On Saturday 1st September, Southwark Park Run celebrated their 5th anniversary and held a collection for us in the early hours of the morning.
Every week Park Run organise free, weekly, 5km timed runs around the world. These runs are free and accessible to anyone, no matter what the level of experience.
400+ people came to the park run between 8-10AM and by the end of it, ten full crates of food were collected.
Cooking On A Bootstrap
Our foodbank also received several copies of Jack Monroe’s ‘Cooking On A Bootstrap’ book, designed to equip those on a budget with quick, easy and tasty recipes. This of course will be extremely useful for our clients which come to the Foodbank. You can learn more about the book here.
We were more than grateful for all of the volunteers and supporters of the event, including Victoria Nock, Fiona D Tong and Ellie Awford who ran for us and helped to hold the collection.
The Park Run do amazing job at bringing the community together in a healthy and productive way and we know their 5th anniversary marked one of many to come.
